- Thumbnails make it easier to locate documents of interest.

- Uploads can be password protected.

- Rename or delete files from within the fileDisplay app

- Fast scroll slider lets you quickly move through long documents

Known limitations:

1. fileDisplay uses the iPad's native document viewing capabilities and is not designed for very large documents (large media files are not a problem). PDF documents up to 50MB in size have been successfully viewed in fileDisplay.

2. Access to web pages using SSL or protected using passwords is not currently supported.

3. iWork documents saved without a preview will not display as accurately as those that are saved with a preview.

4. Audio and Video files must be encoded using an Apple supported format for the iPad (see http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/)

5. A document's thumbnail is not generated until the first time you open a document.

6. Only .zip files with no directory structure can be extracted. This limitation will be removed in a future update. Mac OS streams are ignored (e.g. flat zip files created in Finder on a Mac will extract without the stream).

7. When using VGA output, videos are always output at 1024x768 resolution

8. Slides are presented using the native preview functionality and do not support transitions. Keynote slides do not render full screen so fileDisplay is best suited to reviewing, not presenting slides.

(v 1.3) I have a new original iPad and thought this would be a great tool to help me display files (PDF and PPTX mostly) through a projector for client presentations. I hope they fix their bugs in this app because right now it just doesn't work well at all. Transfer of files works fine as does viewing them but 9 times out of 10 when I choose to display the file the app just crashed. The couple of times I actually got it past that point either the file wasn't actually displayed on the monitor OR the 1 times that it successfully did display on the monitor the laser function didn't work and 2 minutes in the thing crashed again. This could be a great app if it worked as advertised. Funny to me how the developers who build these non-functioning apps aren't embarrassed about their work.
